FAQs

Most asked

  • Not at all. Most of our guests are stepping onto a sailboat for the first time.

You can be as hands-on or hands-off as you like; learn the basics, take the helm, or simply enjoy the feeling of being at sea.

All that’s required is curiosity and a willingness to experience something new.

  • Our trips are designed for:

    • Solo travellers looking to reconnect (and disconnect)

    • Couples seeking something more meaningful than a resort

    • Friends who want a shared adventure

Most guests arrive not knowing anyone, and leave with deep, lasting connections.

  • Prices vary depending on the route and duration, but most Sailing Alisios trips range between €1,500–€2,000 per person.

For many, it replaces the cost of:

    • Accommodation

    • Transportation between destinations

    • Daily experiences

But offers something far more immersive in return.

Planning your trip

  • The Canary Islands are at their best for sailing between November and February.

While most of Europe is deep in winter, the Canaries stay warm, with steady trade winds and calm seas that make for reliable, comfortable sailing. It's one of those rare destinations where the off-season is actually the season.

  • The Balearic Islands are best explored between June and October, when the summer weather is settled and the sailing is straightforward. The classic route takes you between Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, and Formentera.

Each island has its own character, and the distances between them are short enough that you can move at a relaxed pace and still cover a lot of ground.

  • Pack light. Space on a boat is limited, so soft bags work better than hard suitcases. Bring layers for the evenings, a few bathing suits, and reef-safe sun protection. A good book never hurts either.

A full recommended packing list will be sent to you before your trip.

  • Yes. We recommend taking out travel insurance before your trip. Sailing takes you away from the usual infrastructure, and having cover for medical emergencies, cancellations, or lost gear gives you one less thing to think about once you're on the water.

  • Phone signal is generally available when you're close to shore. There's no WiFi on board by default, but if you'd like to stay connected, we offer an optional Starlink upgrade.

Life onboard

  • No alarms. Someone makes coffee. From there, the day finds its own shape. On a typical day you might help get the boat ready, sail to the next spot, swim, fish, cook lunch together, nap on the bow, and catch the sunset from the water or a hilltop. Some trips include night sailing, which is its own thing entirely.

The pace is relaxed, but there's always something happening.

  • Some people do, most don't. It depends on the conditions and the person.

If you're prone to motion sickness, we recommend taking Biodramina before you board. The first day is usually the one to watch. After that, most guests find their sea legs and don't think about it again.

  • Very. You're sharing a boat with a small group, so you get to know people quickly. Most guests arrive solo and leave with friends. It's not a party boat, but there's always room for a cold beer after a swim.

  • It depends on the trip. On our Mallorca and Canary Islands trips, a chef is on board and all meals are included. On the ocean crossings, it works more collaboratively. The group makes the grocery list together, splits the cost, and takes turns helping in the galley. Either way, you eat well.

  • Cabins are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Once you book, you'll be added to a WhatsApp group where we sort out the details with the rest of the group. On our Mallorca and Canary Islands trips, cabins are shared. On the ocean crossings, you have your own bed.
